Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs trial: Court hears audio of Cassie threatening to kill man over sex tape

In the latest day of the Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs trial on May 16th, the court heard audio of Cassie Ventura threatening to kill a man who had seen a sexually explicit video involving her.

Earlier this week, Ventura testified to the jury that she was hosting an event in Atlantic City on March 9th, 2014, when “someone I was working with said they saw a sexually explicit video of me, so I reached out to Sean”.

They were then shown a message, sent by Ventura to Combs on the same date, that read, “I need you to call me ASAP.”

She also stated that if the footage leaked, it “would put my career in jeopardy” and also cause embarrassment to “my mother, my family.”

On May 16th, Ventura, who is eight and a half months pregnant, underwent her second day of cross-examination from the defence, who played an audio recording of her threatening the man who claimed to have seen the sex tape.

“It’s my life and I’ll kill you,” she told the man, with expletives, according to the New York Times. “I’ve never killed anybody in my life, but I will kill you.”

It’s also reported that Ventura reacted with shock to her own words, which the court heard in the recording.

The cross-examination of Ventura is expected to end on May 16th, and the prosecutors have noted it has already lasted “multiple hours longer than her direct examination lasted”.

Due to Ventura being heavily pregnant, prosecutors want the cross-examination to end today as they fear the risk of a possible mistrial if she goes into labour over the weekend. They wrote: “The inefficiency of cross-examination yesterday raises the inference that the defendant hopes to accomplish precisely that outcome.”

Combs is charged with five counts of sex trafficking, racketeering, and sexual abuse. He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
