CASPER (WNE) — The Wyoming Special Olympics announced that the summer games in 2025 will be held in Gillette.

The three-day event will have athletes from across the state competing in track and field, basketball, powerlifting and swimming, according to the press release. The competitions will make use of school gymnasiums, county recreation centers and the CAM-PLEX.

The event starts on May 1 with a torch run with law enforcement officers. The full schedule of events can be found online.

The May competition will be kicked off with an opening ceremony address by Denver Broncos Linebacker Alex Singleton.

At the summer games, there will also be a youth summit event focused on inclusion. The Wyoming Special Olympics hosts four major events throughout the year: winter games, summer games, Summer Sports Classic and a fall tournament.
